Last night at Durty Nelly’s in the Sunset District, I played guitar and sang “Dead Flowers,” “You Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party” and “The Blarney Stone” with my old friend the guitarist-singer-songwriter-bassist Mark Schuh, now of San Francisco funk-rock band Crackerjack Highway. Irish folk were abound, but Schuh’s biggest fans were an eighty-something Japanese couple who danced all night. I doubt I’ll live to be that old, let alone have that much energy left.
When I was a wee lad in my early 20’s, Schuh (a Madison, WI native) and I were in the San Francisco psychedelic band Sunfire Pleasure from 2003-2005 and he’s fronted his solo project the Shim Sham Rebellion since before I knew him. We’re both getting old.
