
Today we woke in Martigny (home of the La Batiaz Castle, pictured above), so close to both France & Italy that not only are the wine and pizza amazing, but Napoleon’s literal and metaphorical footprints are everywhere, as his army marched through here and planted trees along the way.
There is a mystical quality to Martigny, and Europe in general, that I’ll miss. In a few minutes we bike our final Swiss miles, from Martigny to Vevey, where Sean #2 and I will sleep tonight before heading to the Geneva Airport by train at dawn tomorrow. Memories of Colorado are coming back now…
